Charles M. Kline is a writer / illustrator and an award-winning filmmaker. His radio drama “Transmission Unknown” was performed live at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago, Illinois for the Wildclaw Theatre Company’s first annual Deathscribe radio play festival in 2008 (winning 2nd place) and was later produced for the Shoestring Radio Theatre program in 2011, airing on 111 stations in 34 states. He has also scribed horror film essays published in the Rondo award-winning book Hidden Horror: A Celebration of 101 Underrated and Overlooked Fright Flicks (2013), When Animals Attack: The 70 Best Horror Movies with Killer Animals (2016), and Strange Blood: 71 Essays on Offbeat and Underrated Vampire Movies (2019).

Mr. Kline graduated with honors with a BFA in Creative Writing for Entertainment from Full Sail University in 2014. His student short film “Living With Lycanthropy” (which also garnered a student award), screened at five film festivals in the U.S. and won Best Horror at the 2012 IFQ Film and Webisode Festival in Hollywood, California. In 2016, he directed his first short film “Frankenfriend” for the Beaumont Film and Music Festival’s Small and Creepy Film Contest and won second place; the film eventually earned several more award nominations during its film festival run and won “Best Editing of a Short Film” at the 2018 International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema in Nice, France. His third short film, “Human Resources,” was an official mobile film category participant of the AT&T Shape Create-a-thon June 2-3, 2018 at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank, California and his team competed against 64 others filming the same weekend out of over 500 entries. It eventually went on to win several awards and screened at the first Oxford International Short Film Festival, which was held at St. John’s College in early 2019.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Kline is also the author and illustrator of the bleakly comical books The 12 Frights of Christmas (2017) and Mother Noose Nursery Crimes (2018), the latter of which he is turning into an animated short film series, and is currently seeking a publisher.
